Thank goodness after the winter we had we finally get a taste of summer... ahhhh.. But in true in New England fashion, we are complaining.... it's too hot, it's too humid, it's too sticky, we never had spring, etc, etc. I say put on your walking shoes or the a/c and enjoy it while you can, winter is just around the corner. There is always a breeze on the waterfront, go there!!
Speaking of waterfront, big happenings for music lovers this summer.... The concerts on the waterfront are back and started this past week.
- Every Wednesday night through 8/28 Project Arts will have waterfront concerts with 2 very special events. July 13 - Harbor Roots & Folk Festival 10am-7pm and August 10 - Plymouth Harborfest to benefit MDA 9am-6pm. For a complete listing of the bands and times check out their website (www.projectarts.com) . New this year in case of rain New World Tavern will be hosting the bands at their pub at 56 Main Street. New World Tavern (www.thenewworldtavern.com) is a cool spot to go, 32 beers on tap over 100 bottled and some of the best apps, try their new world pizza YUM, but watch out for their Jamaican Jerk wings...ouch!
- Friday nights and several Saturday evenings throughout the summer on Hedge House Lawn and on the waterfront Acoustic Nights and Jam Fest check their website for further details, band line up and times. (www.brewsterproductions.com).
- Every night there is music playing, people dancing under the stars on the waterfront, or in the many clubs on Main Street. Someone said, but I haven't confirmed it yet, I'm working on it but I get to about 4 and can't go any further, that there are approximately 26 places to wet your whistle between Water and Samoset Streets....yikes!
There is so much going on in town it's too much to list here, so I suggest you go to several of the Plymouth MA sites and find out. Check several as some of the sites are a "pay to play" site and won't list everything going on and we don't want you to miss anything!!
Have a good evening..see you around!

Hi There
Hi there I'm back.... Like I promised, I'd give you an insiders view on some of the pubs, restaurants and nightlife scene here in Plymouth. Well last week and weekend I made a huge effort to go to a few establishments, even though I went to a fantastic event in Boston, The Challenge on The Charles on 7/21, wow what a great time, it was held on the Community Boating docks (check out their website: http://www.capecodbaychallenge.org/) . Anyway, the reason you are here is Plymouth so here goes.... The New World Tavern on Main Street, stopped in there last Friday night with the hubby for a craft beer (they have a HUGE selection, 32 on tap and 120 bottled!) and an appetizer. We ordered our beers and chicken wings, I know your thinking, oh please..chicken wings? They have many different flavors to choose from, we ordered Jamaican Jerk. Now, we've been to Jamaica many many times and have had jerk many times but this.........YIKES... One bite and I couldn't feel my tongue!!! I felt like Robin Williams in his stand up routine.... I couldn't eat them but hubby thought they were great. I went back for a late lunch/early supper and the food was very good, they have an affordable menu (which is hard to find in a tourist area). So I give them a thumbs up!! I'll be back. P.S. they have a back room with a dance floor and entertainment, try it out! Next blog.. I'll give you my take on another establishment...

New news!!
Wow, it's been a while since I've had the chance to blog, we've been very busy here. I know that's no excuse but that's the only one I can think of right now.... So getting back to writing/blogging, my thoughts are going in every direction. I have to sift through and decide which ones you may find interesting...hmmmm....
Ok here goes........ The movie "Monumental, In Search of America's National Treasure" has created such a stir!! People are flocking to Plymouth to see the Forefathers Monument, I don't think I've been asked so many times as to where it is, is there a guide to explain it, etc, etc.. There are a couple people in town that I personally know that are very knowledgeable about the monument, Bettyann's Tours (508-801-2300) and Leo Martin (508-747-4544), call them if your interested.
The town has been very busy with festivals, parades, and celebrations, of course the 4th of July was huge as usual. July 14 is Maritime Days on the waterfront, the weather is supposed to be beautiful so I'm sure the turnout will be tremendous. There will be the blessing of the fleet, nautical craft vendors, food, entertainment, then the grand finale the Lighted Boat Parade. Also July 14 there is the 5th Annual Plymouth Harbor Folk Festival, check out their website for the list of artists.
Lots of new restaurants and bars have opened for more nightlife options. I'll tell you about them (or at least the ones I've been to), I try to get to as many as possible. I hate to review or critique a venue based on one visit, you ever know when someone is having an off night, so I give everyone a second chance, before I pass along my opinion.
Have a great weekend, stay cool, where lots of sunscreen!

What an AMAZING winter!
We have had the most amazing winter here in the Northeast! No real snow, no real cold, just fabulous, as long as your not a skier or snowmobiler!! I am a skier, but honestly, I don't mind if NH, VT and ME keep all the snow. I HATE waking up in the morning and having to shovel before driving off to work. The temperatures have been unseasonably warm, just yesterday we hit high 50's and it's only March!! Gotta love it.....
Anyway, getting down to brass tacks.... Plymouth... what's going on.... This month many attractions open up Pilgrim Hall opened up 2/1, Plimoth Plantation opens up 3/17, and Forefathers Monument Tours start up again 3/17/12. Just an FYI the St Patty's Day Parade in South Boston is Sunday this year 3/18, and Cape Cod is celebrating a little early on 3/10 in Dennis & Yarmouth. The Boston celebration always attracts a huge crowd, don't miss it!!
I have been out and about this winter trying different restaurants as well as going back to the old faves. Here are a couple you must try......
Should you be hankering for an incredibly awesome hamburger, go to K Katies Burger Bar on Main St. Plymouth. Oh my god, I thought I was in heaven, can you tell I love a GOOD burger? One of the nice things about K Katies is that you can order your burger pink and it comes out pink!!! I had the BBQ burger, fabulous, the burgers come with regular fries or you can upgrade. I highly recommend the upgrade, I like the green bean fries and the truffle oil fries. Oh yeah, they pour a mean Black and Blue, definitely a place to try I know you'll be back!
Another restaurant I think you should check out, if your in the area, is Stir Crazy, authentic Cambodian Cuisine on Rte 28 in Pocasset, just over the bridge.....yum...yum... Hubby and I went there on a Friday night, the place was packed, I can see why. The food was delicious, I had Bar Bong with chicken and he had Beef Lock Lack. They have been written up in numerous publications praising their food. If your in the area or are on your way down the Cape, stop here, it's worth the trip.

It's a lovely day in the Neighborhood!!!
Well things are gearing up for Halloween and the weather is perfect!!! The Tihonet Village Market (Tihonet Road, Wareham - AD Makepeace Cranberries) is putting on a "Bog Freight Night"....00000000 scarey....... Actually several years ago a friend of mine's son was part of this freight night and scared me to death, a couple times!! I knew it was high school kids but none the less they scared me. I haven't been in quite a while so I'm not sure of the measure of goolishness, but just beware......
On a not-so-scarey note there are Cranberry Bog Tours being offered at AD Makepeace Cranberries during the day. Call ahead for dates and times....508-295-5437, the bogs at AD Makepeace are "wet" picked. The folks at Flax Pond Farms Cranberry Bog (508-866-3654) are very informative about how bogs are built and "dry" picked, they have a wonderful gift shop on the premises.
The Pilgrim Hall Museum is featuring a very interesting exhibit entitled "What's Under Things?", Yup, you guessed it, it's about underwear!!! This exhibit runs through December 31, 2011, check it out and see if you could have worn these, comfortable (?!?!) items....
Whatever you choose to do while in Plymouth, have fun, enjoy and don't forget to eat lots of seafood!!!!

What a day, what a weekend coming up!
What an amazing day!!! It is absolutely beautiful outside, the perfect touring weather.
Clean crisp air, bright blue skies perfect apple picking weather. We went a couple weekends ago and filled up on Ginger Golds, McIntosh and Gala apples, yum yum. I know this blog is supposed to be about Plymouth but I must tell you about a fabulous museum I visited out in Lincoln, MA, it's about an hour from here but definitely worth it: deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, check out their website, then GO! You won't be disappointed.
Now back to Plymouth and closer areas..... this weekend is the 42nd Bourne Scallop Festival, (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). This festival has been chosen a number of times as one of the Top 100 attractions in the US & Canada to attend. The festival is held rain or shine, there is a juried craft show, live entertainment, midway rides & games and of course a Scallop or Herb Roasted Chicken Dinner(for those not wanting scallops). The dinners are served with french fries, cole slaw, rolls and butter, and soda. If your not in the mood for a dinner; there is also a food court with lobster rolls, beer & wine, chowder, a raw bar, hot dogs & hamburgers, enough for anyone.
Plymouth will be having a juried art show and stroll this Saturday. Lastly, the bogs are starting to be picked, I know alot of you like to come here to watch the bogs being worked. Keep in mind you MUST get permission from the owners if you want to go on the bogs. Otherwise visit Makepeace on Tihonet Road in Wareham or Flax Pond Bogs in Carver to get a tour. Have a great weekend!!!!
